It took some time, it has been too long, way too long, but finally, after more than two years, LycanthropY return with a new epos, called A.V.R.E.I.L. A.V.R.E.I.L. stands for ‘anno volcanii, rex efferorum, imperium lucis’, and means something like ‘year of the volcano, king of savages, empire of the light’.
If you search the .net, you will find tens of bands called Lycanthropy. I for myself do like several acts with that name, but the one from Russia / Ukraine must be one I like most. ‘Like’, can you imagine I am using that word… Anyway, on December 1st 2014 Concreteweb did upload the review undersigned did for the Dead Silence-EP, which I got from Metallic Media, and since then, this three-piece (gathered around two permanent members) recorded / released some more stuff.
I don’t know anymore how many Extreme Metal acts there are with the moniker Lycanthropy. But this review deals with the extremely productive one from Orel, Russia, close to the borders with Ukraine and Belarus. The city of Orel, by the way, isn’t that far away from the city of Voronezh, known for a very vivid Metal-scene, and house of another act called Lycanthropy (though defunct in mean time) – FYI.
