Alor

Alor are a very young solo-outfit by Miguel Black aka Amarok, former member of shortly lived (yet productive) duo Lyset, and briefly active in Nangilima too. He created this piece called Haerfest at the end of 2013, and he had the opportunity to have it released via the professional label Northern Silence Productions earlier this year. Amarok did all instruments and vocals (there’s one single track with guest vocals), as well as the production and mix.

Xerath

I was very pleased with the evolution Xerath underwent in between both first albums. The debut I was acceptable, but with II, Xerath did surprise me a lot. That’s why I was pleased to notice that now, after almost three and a half year of impatiently waiting, there is a new Xerath full length, ingeniously called III.

The Autumn League

The Autumn League are a new collective from Sydney, Australia. They recorded this first album, Concept Of Irony, at the end of 2013 at Bright Lights Sound Room, and had it mixed and engineered at MCM Recording by Russell Finch in early 2014.

Spüolus

I have to admit: I did not know Spüolus, at least not before Kunsthauch were so kind to send me (and in extension, ‘us’, for I am part of the Concreteweb-crew, of course…) the first, and sole full length album Behind The Event Horizon. The only other thing this project did, if I am not wrong, was a split (with Mare Frigoris) in 2013, which has been re-issued as well via Kunsthauch.

Scars From A Dead Room

Scars From A Dead Room are a mysterious Canadian project that release their debut on the equally mysterious but unique French label Distant Voices. The latter are known for their mostly original releases, and then I am talking about the physical copy of each release. Once again, this album comes in an extremely limited edition; this time it concerns 69 copies only (with no repressing) (good news, however, for this specific album will be available too on cassette, via BLWBCK).

Scaphandre

Scaphandre are the brainchild of a Frenchmen who calls himself Spasme. He formed the project in 2011 and one year later, Scaphandre self-released two EP’s, one at the very beginning of that year and one at the end of 2012. I will review both of them. First this. Both of them were originally self-released, but now they will be re-issued via Misandreproductions.

Protestant

Protestant from Milwaukee are a very productive entity within the Extreme Music scene. In less than a decade, they recorded and released hands full of EP’s, several splits (with the likes of Get Rad, Northless or Suffering Mind), and four full albums; most of the stuff, by the way, was done via Halo Of Flies (also based in Milwaukee), sometimes in collaboration with another label.

Mortis Mutilati

Mortis Mutilati are a young French project by Macabre (formerly of Skog and Decrepitude, and actually active in e.g. Septentrion, Moonreich, Charogne -which actually is another solo-outfit by him- or Gratzug amongst others), formed in 2011.
