Four years after Emaciated Deity, French horde Bliss Of Flesh, with former Deviant Surgeon- and Fist 69-members, return with Beati Pauperes Spiritu, which has duration of about forty nine minutes. The stuff was recorded at the Midnight Studio (think: Phazm, Arkhon Infaustus), and it got mastered afterwards at Drudenhaus (Seth, Anorexia Nervosa, Quintessence, Darkenhöld) by Anorexia Nervosa’s Neb Xort.

Beati Pauperes Spiritu is not that differing from Bliss Of Flesh’s previous efforts, and at the same time it is. When it comes to the first, the ‘not that differing’-thing, I want to focus on the grandiose equilibrium in between gargantuan Epic Death Metal at the one hand, and cold, grim Black Metal at the other. Another example of this common-mark continuation is the varying tempo, not in between the songs only, yet within almost every single piece. Doomy passages interfere with blasting eruptions, and everything in between is possible too. Characterising as well is the balance of brutal, aggressive, ultra-heavy parts with more ‘acceptable’, catchier ones (these ones still maintaining the ferocity that symbolises the whole album!).

However, when it comes to the reference ‘at the same time it is’ (see above), there’s not much to say. Except for the improved sound quality (which is more dense and raw, but for sure not under-produced!) and the increased technical skills (especially some breaks and leads surprise me more than before), I have nothing to add. But why should I? Bliss Of Flesh always brought a malicious and ferocious form of Blackened Death Metal with a quality above the middlings. That’s not different with this album - on the contrary. The fans surely are about to enjoy another journey through thrashing mosh pits, deadly scenes of destruction and ruin, and blackened spheres of fleshly torture and everlasting despair.
