The Eldritch Dark is a massive album for Blood Ceremony. The album is full of great performances, beautiful writing, and an injection of folk catchiness that the band had only flirted with on prior outings. Do not be afraid though, there is still the classic band at the heart of the album. Still mixing their brand of occult doom with seventies rock elements the band runs through the album without a single note sounding forced or out of place. The driving force behind the band is flutist, organist and singer Alia O' Brien her voice is very important to the album and it’s one of those voices you’ll immediately embrace. There really is something for everyone on The Eldritch Dark. If you’re a fan of doom stuff (Witchcraft, Pentagram) you’ll love it. If you’re a fan of female occult folk stuff (Comus, Coven, Jex Thoth), you’ll still love it, if you're fan of seventies organ/flute rock (Jethro Tull, Out of Focus, Warhorse) you'll love it even more. The melodies are great, the instruments are sensible, and the production is excellent. The songs are really good from top to bottom without ever being boring and the 41-minute CD is over before you know it.

Fans of anything Blood Ceremony are going to love this album, and even though I still prefer Living with the Ancients over this release, The Eldritch Dark is an amazing release worthy of any praise it receives. Leaning back towards a folkier sound, this album is a mixture of the new and old and it does it remarkably well.  A great release from a consistent band, BC is still on top of the game.
