Swiss act Exit was formed in 1995 by the Haller-brothers Martin and Stefan, Marcus Frei, Beni Sax and Thomas Kunz. In the earliest years, Exit did perform live a lot, but it took until 2001 before they finally released a first album (Bis Ans Ende Aller Tage); which, by the way, was received very positively in the Alpine countries. Her Dark Passion (2006) and III (2009), recorded under a new line-up constellation (Marcus and Thomas left, and new guitar drummer Andrej Bieri joined the combo), strengthened the band’s position in their home country, but it took another couple of years once again to have their fourth full length released. This one, Face The Enemy, was recorded at the KHE Recording Studios with producer Marcus Hospenthal (the guy involved with e.g. Intractable; this band’s album Inner Decay was updated on April 12th 2013, if you do care), and the mastering was done, once again, at Echochamber with Dan Sutter.

This fourth full length lasts for forty minutes and stands once again for powerful and energetic, rhythmic and grooving Death Metal-injected Thrash Metal with a modern approach rather than an old styled one. Because of the modern approach, and with the few clean vocals / choirs in mind, also the Metalcore-genre might be a source of inspiration for the band nowadays. With an open-minded fantasy, one could consider this record a mixture of elements from, let’s say, Chimaera, Soilwork, Devil Driver, Lamb Of God, and even (hints of) Darkane, Machine Head or Trivium. Unfortunately I do miss inspiration, I do miss outstanding songs, I do miss a ‘spirit’ behind this album. Personally I would also prefer to hear more variation, for this gives me a headache after a while, and I’m losing interest after just a couple of songs…
