I had not heard of this band before, but Goat 10.10.10 seems to be this Swiss act’s debut (no idea how you need to pronounce the band’s moniker anyway). But in any case Thergüu do impress me a lot with this first recording, which has a total running time of half an hour (the three tracks, From, Within, and Above, last for respectively 8:29, 9:51 and 11:06 minutes). And despite these English song titles, the lyrics are in French, for your (mostly important) information…

With Goat 10.10.10, these Helvetians bring a rather fast form of atmospheric, melodic and little melancholic yet proud and victorious (Underground) Black Metal, including a chilly and misty production, an obscure and suffocating atmosphere, and repetitive melody lines. Remarkable is the enormous energy that characterises most of the songs, which makes this release not ‘just another Depressive Blackgaze’-release. In this specific case I do miss an own identity and some additional variety (tempo-changes, ambient and / or acoustic intermezzos - though this is not original either, I have to admit; mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa), and a more professional sound would not be that hideous either.
