Scelerata

Forget the samba, and listen to Scelerata, a metal band hailing from, yes you’ve guessed it right, Brazil.  This is their third release so far, their debut album ‘Darkness And Light’ having been released in 2006

Warnot

Warnot is a project by former Cloudscape guitarist Björn Eliassion.  He left Cloudscape in 2009, and started working on his own musical project, which ended as this album under the name Warnot.

Prototype

Prototype was formed by two former members of Los Angeles trash band Psychosis. This, I believe, is their third album.

While Prototype cannot deny its trash origins, its music exceeds the limits of the trash genre. They have managed to mix in a good dose of progressive metal, and, very important for me, they have managed to have decent vocals, instead of shouts.

Seven Kingdoms

Yet another female fronted metal band I thought.  But boy did I make a mistake.

I’d never heard of this US band before, yet this is already their third album, and the second with Sabrina Valentine on vocals.  And contrary to many other female fronted bands this lady doesn’t try to mimic an opera singer, but instead sings more in the lower and mid range of the spectrum; yet at the same time being able to reach rather high notes as well.

Spheric Universe Experience

This is the fourth album for French band Spheric Universe Experience.  I have no idea what their previous albums sounded like, but apparently their sound was more situated in the progressive metal genre.

And although there are still some prog elements there, they seem to have been reduced to a strict minimum.  No intricate keyboard parts are to be found, as a matter of fact keyboards are even spares and between.  However the album is not bad, since the guitar parts are very good.

Cloudscape

I own the first two albums of Cloudscape, ‘Cloudscape’ and ‘Crimson Skies’, but seem to have missed their third release ‘Global Drama’. Now I’m picking the trail back up with their fourth release ‘New Era’.
