You may not have heard of one Duncan Evans in the music scene yet, as this Leeds (UK) based musician is better known under his surname of Henry Hyde Bronsdon, name under which he operates wit 7-man Psychedelic Black Metal act A Forest Of Stars (formed in 2007, they now have 3 full-length albums to their name so far) and Progressive/ Stoner Metal band Electric Mud Generator (formed in 2002 and, although still active, the band's second album To The Disdain Of Polyhymnia dates back to 2008).

For his solo endeavours, the artist operates under his own name, and takes on a singer-songwriter stance rooted in the tradition of English Folk and murder ballads, influenced by the likes of Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Roy Harper. Focusing on the darker side of things (sometimes in a delicate way, sometimes in a more macabre way), the songs have a storyteller approach, with music which is primarily acoustic (but recorded with a production which makes the electric parts a nice background element) and stripped-down (on the songs we get on this 7-inch single, you'll hear only acoustic and electric guitar as instruments).

The vinyl single, which is a precursor for the full-length album Lodestone which is to be released later in the year on Auerbach Tonträger/ Prophecy, is limited to 500 copies only...and therefore probably already sold-out by now. Pity, because the b-side “She And I Must Part” (augmented by a short passage of additional female vocals) is a song exclusive for the single! For your acquaintance to the title track, enter “duncan evans” in your google search browser, and you'll find a “video” (actually just music playing with a picture of Duncan showing) of the song. Enjoy...or don't, as things may turn out! Me, I'm looking forward to the full-length now!
