Band : Re-Stoned Despite being predictable I like this release by The Re-Stoned. The band, a four piece from Moscou, Russia , plays a brand of instrumental groove stoner fuzz obviously inspired by Karma To Burn, Natas, Monkey3 and Kyuss.. They pull some great leads out of the tumultuous hat of their sound, and execute very good build-ups. With an ok, but not great, production backing up The Re-Stoned they are saved from the nightmare every Russian band have when they unleash their debut: being misrepresented on disc by bad production. Once the band are in the full swing of "The mountain giant” and “Space” they instantly bring to mind Let It Burn-era Nebula and as the album progresses the band also gives a nod towards 70’s giants Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Some songs are really heavy crushing shit, some are much more hypnotising and make you feel spaced out. “Orient of doom” swallows in an exotic swamp of bluesiness and murky delusional Monkey 3 dripping riffs, remind me of John Perez (Solitude Aeturnus) psych band Liquid Sound Company. Altogether Revealed Gravitation is a very entertaining album that should appeal to all fans of stoner, space and psych rock. 90/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
