Sermon

I have to be honest. I did not know the band Sermon from the Izmir-region in Turkey, even though they were formed fifteen years ago. Yet then again, apparently they have not been that active / productive either, so these guys will forgive me my ignorance, I’m sure. They were active from 1997 to 2004, but didn’t release anything but a couple of demos. …and faded away into nothingness.

Metatron Omega

Under the moniker of Scorpio V, the Serbian guy Alexander runs a truly interesting number of outfits. He’s the guy behind the Prometheus Studio organization (which is ‘dedicated in delivering immersive musical narratives’), which releases (self-made) material by obscure and border-trespassing projects like Monasterium Imperi and Paleowolf, or the likes of Gaetir The Mountainkeeper, Forest Of Yore, Stronghold Guardian and several more.

Pure

[In a series of somewhat shorter reviews, yet necessary and remarkable ones, from Satanath Records, GrimmDistribution and Symbol Of Domination Productions and their era 2020/2021, a (quick) one about Seeds Of Despair, the last recording by Swiss act Pure]

Corpus Christii

It would be a waste of time to spent my time and energy in writing a biography / discography about one of Portugal’s best known and most notorious bands. Personally, I do follow Corpus Christii as from their debut Saeculum Domini, more than two decades ago (though, I admit that I do not have all of their releases in my collection (yet), apparently). And now they have returned with a ninth full-length album after signing to Immortal Frost Productions, a Flemish label with a limited yet enormously cool roster.

various artists (Tomb Of Primordials)

This review deals with the sixth release in the dark-mythological Tomb series, ‘a dark exploration of the multifaceted entities of Sumerian mythology and the many dark places they inhabit. Places that still resonate with raw, ancient power’. This newest chapter invites the listener ‘to the dark realms of Mesopotamia, where over 5.000 years ago a civilization both physical and spiritual was founded’.

Black Cult

[brief review, yet based on another release from 2020 / 2021 that deserves all additional promotion, in a dedicated series about Satanath Records, GrimmDistribution, Symbol Of Domination Productions]

Rojinski

Even-though this guy from the French-speaking part of Belgium (Wallonia, the South of the country) is active as musician for about two decades, initially under the Planets Citizens moniker (rather EBM / Electro-Pop-oriented), I only noticed him about one year ago. It was under his moniker Rojinski that Alexei drew my attention.

Lichtblick

About nine years ago, two friends joined forces under the banner of Lichtblick. In 2015, founding members M. and A. and newly recruited musicians J. and D. recorded and released their debut, i.e. the independently released EP Feel Free To Lose Your Life. Some line-up changes happened, but with a renewed stable line-up, Lichtblick released their first full-length in 2018. Phrenesis too was independently released by the band itself.

Trwoga

Dark Isolationism Ambient… That’s how Trwoga does describe their aural art. And who am I to discuss this. When referring to their former effort, Hadefobia, I would describe it as ‘haunting and horrific Dark Drone / Black Industrial Ambient’, but it does not exactly matter.
