Belgian quartet Bones (Stef Aertsen, Jeroen De Pauw, Viktor Walschaerts and Lukas Huybrechts) started in 2011, and in 2012 they released a first demo, which was released on vinyl too somewhat later. In mean time, the band was able to perform live on stage with the likes of Obituary, Necrowretch, Undergang, Morbus Chron, Master and many more. And a next step in their strong career is the recording, and release, of Awaiting Rebirth, the band’s newest vinyl thing, released via mighty Blood Harvest.

Awaiting Rebirth is a three-track vinyl disk, focusing on the primal essence of Death Metal. Especially the American scene comes to mind, but since the U.S.Aaah are, without doubt, protagonists etc… Also the scenes from Germany, The Netherlands and Sweden are of not ignorable importance. Especially the Thrash-edged injections (some specific solos come to mind, for example) are rather of the proto-European kind. But then again, the structures of the compositions, the bass lines, the whatever…

Possessed-meet-Suffocation-meet-Morgoth-meet-Autopsy-meet-Carnage-meet-Grave-meet-Death and so on… Is it renewing? No, it is not. Is it original? No, it is not. Does it bring something we haven’t experienced before? No, certainly not. So, why would this release be a recommendation? Well, simply because Awaiting Rebirth brings three grandiose pieces of old schooled brutality, filled with persuasion and craftsmanship, with passion and power.
