The history of Finnish outfit Uhriristi goes back to 2011, when Rutto and Samael decided to write some blackish stuff in their mother tongue. With Synti and Räyhähenki joining their ranks, Uhriristi recorded the demo Petetty (self-release on CD-r). Then they (were) contacted (by) Mortis Humanae Productions, and this label re-released that demonstrational effort on tape in 2012. Uhriristi started writing new stuff, and after recruiting two more musicians (Luopio and Kauna), they recorded and released the debut album Maailma Palaa, also via Mortis Humanae Productions. And it’s that very same label that now offers the audience the next effort, which is called Haudankylmä.

Haudankylmä has a total running time of thirty nine minutes and it is, just like the former recordings, intended to create / support / start war against religions of all kinds, with no exceptions, and no mercy involved. What these guys actually bring is a very fast and energetic, yet highly melodious and epic form of Nordic-styled Black Metal. And now I can end my review; you’re welcome…

But I guess some more information might be appreciated, though I cannot add much more details. Haudankylmä completely lacks of originality. I do not care, and you shouldn’t either. These songs are just very, very attractive and convincing, mixing elements from the Scandinavian countries especially: Norway (let’s mention Old Man’s Child, earlier Ancient etc.), Sweden (why not: Setherial and Thy Primordial) and, evidently, Finland (Vintersemestre or Ajattara). There is quite some room for synth lines within about each composition, as well as heroic and / or warlike structures in performance. And on top of it, Uhriristi’s second album has a sound that quasi-perfectly stipulates the essence of their aural anger. Is there anything else you need? Indeed, I thought so…
