Uburen

Norway’s trio Uburen (Thord, Bior and Ask) was formed in 2010 with the goal to pay tribute to the mighty Viking-culture, playing their music with the mindsetting of these warriors fighting in the midst of battlefields or marching on during a bloody raid. Withered Roots therefor can be considered the soundtrack of the Norsemen’s victorious and epic conquership.

Satanath

I know that the guy behind the sublime Satanath Records-label, Alexey Korolyov, is active in Abigorum, a solo-outfit from which I hope to hear more very soon. On August 20th 2014, for your information, we updated a review on his newest Abigorum-creation, called My Haemophilia, which undersigned could appreciate a lot.

Raum Kingdom

Raum Kingdom are a young act from Ireland. Recently the band (vocalist Dave Lee, bassist Ronan Connor, guitar player Andrew Colohan, and drummer Mark Gilchrist) entered the Dead Dog Studio to record this first album, which clocks nearly half an hour. This self-titled EP was mixed and mastered by Jonny Kerr, known from the Pantera-tribute act TamporA, or Sludge / Crust / Grind band Fuckhammer, amongst others.

Pyre

Pyre are an act from Saint Petersburg, Russia, formed in spring 2011, and consisting of members involved within the Black and Death Metal scene out there (think: Drama, Chamber Of Torture, Ragor, Ulvdalir etc.). After a first demonstrational recording, Pyre signed to Blood Harvest in order to release the 7”EP Ravenous Decease (2012).

Misericordia

For more than a decade and a half, Swedish act Misericordia punish the ignorant human kind by unleashing their crafted Sounds of Hell. However, it’s been quite some time that they did release something to fight for, but they strike back with Throne Of Existence, a ten-tracker that lasts for forty seven minutes.

K-X-P

Öm is a new label created by Timo Kaukolampi, the master brain behind K-X-P, which is a Krautrock / Funk / Acid-Jazz-inspired formation from Finland. The moniker Öm is based on the mystical Sanskrit sound ‘Om’ and the umlauts we know from Motörhead (and in mean time taken over by hundreds of Metal bands all over our sick globe); both of them influential elements to define the sound of K-X-P.

Coldblood

The history of this Rio de Janeiro, Brazil-based band goes back to 1992. Coldblood were formed by Marcus ‘M.Kult’ Couttinho and some friends, and they recorded one demo (Terror Stench) before splitting up a first time. In 1999 the band reformed, yet once again for a short period, and with just one single demonstrational recording. In 2005, Coldblood was reborn for another time, but this time things seemed to work out well.

Blackwitch Pudding

Blackwitch Pudding are a trio of wizards (Space Wizard, Lizard Wizard and Wizard Wizard), formed about six hundred years ago, out of some witch’s womb. They were trained in the Dark Arts of Doom and Witchery, searching for cosmic nothingness, creating heavy riffs and even heavier smoke. That’s my impression of this combo’s existence, inspired by the smoky biography I received.

Amenra / Madensuyu

Consouling Sounds are pretty active lately, with quite some interesting new releases on their (in mean time fabulous) roster. The label never eschewed to step away from conformity, and with this two-way split (which is part of a picture disc series) they do strengthen their prominent position within the worldwide Sludge / Post-Metal scene (once again). But this release needs to be considered as a collaboration in between three artists: two bands, i.e.

Satarial

Satarial are a Russian project by Lord Seth, who founded this project in 1993 (permanently joined by Angelika ‘Angel Bust’). Throughout the years he recorded five full lengths, yet since the last one, 2006’s LateXXX, Satarial seemed to fade away in oblivion.
