Amongst the (many) bands that do not really need an introduction for being a kind of ‘legend’: Deicide! More than two and a half decades of experience, ten studio releases (some very good, some shitty, and some in between), and an enormous live reputation (though often contested), this are but a limited view on the glorious existence of these American sweethearts, once coming to Earth to make blasphemy a religion on its own. Hail!

In The Minds Of Evil is the band’s eleventh album, having a total running time of thirty seven minutes. And if I say that Misters Benton and Asheim, and their horde still sound as if they were twenty five years of age, you would probably believe me after having undergone this newest epos. This album surely goes on in the vein of that typifying Deicide-tradition, injecting melody into harshness, and penetrating aggression with technical craftsmanship. For sure it has been a trademark in the past, and with this new album it isn’t different at all. The characteristic USDM Deicide perform comes, once again, with anti-Christian lyrical themes; mind song titles like Kill The Light Of Christ, Godkill [in Latin it is: ‘deicide’… Just for your unholy informatevil] or Even The Gods Can Bleed, amongst others. It is an old styled performance that will please an older generation, yet that will be enjoyed by the new elite of true Old School Majesty too, of course. And the ‘average’ and ‘true’ fan of this band specifically, and Satanic USDM more generally, will appreciate this new stuff without remorse. In The Minds Of Evil might not be the band’s strongest effort to date, but for sure it is not their worst try-out either. I guess you need to check it out yourself, but for what it’s worth: I think you must give it a try for this album sometimes convinces (check out Between The Flesh And The Void, for instance, and you’ll get my point!). No further comment…
