Joe Satriani

Unless you have been living under a rock, you must have heard about Satriani. On of the best guitar players around at the moment. Over the last two decades, the man has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star "G3" guitar extravaganza. Of his 14 solo albums 2 went platinum and 4 gold with 15 Grammy nominations between them.

The Strokes

Although Comedown Machine is already the 5th full-length album by this relatively successful New York City based quintet, I have to admit that it's the first time I consciously heard the band's music. The experience, I daresay was a slight disappointment at first, the music not being quite what I had expected.

V/A Sound City – Real To Reel

As you can surmise from the caption of this review, this album is in fact the soundtrack to a movie...but not just any movie, and it also is not your common soundtrack! You see, there's a nice story behind the coming along of both! It so happens that Sound City was the studio where Dave Grohl and his band Nirvana recorded the album Nevermind, you see? Situated at Van Nuys, Los Angeles, the studio was renowned for having the best sound where drum recordings were concerned.

Jimi Hendrix

It seems incredible, but even after more than 40 years past Jimi Hendix' death (he died on September 18, 1970), people still find original recording masters with studio material which was never before released!

Daughtry

If you like Nickelback then ead no further, and simply buy this album, because Daughtry sounds almost exactly like the aforementioned band. Frontman Chris Daughtry took part in American Idol, but stranded in fourth place. Nevertheless he kept going in the music business, and has so far released two albums, of which the second one ‘Break The Spell’ managed to reach number 8 in the American Billboard chart.

Helloween

It’s been around 3 years since Helloween released a new album, but it has been worth the wait.  While their previous album ‘7 Sinners’ already was a fantastic album, this new one is a masterpiece.

This is their fourteenth studio album so far, and to say the truth they’ve sticked to the concept of their previous albums.  So expect no major experiments or the use of some unusual instrument.  But that does not alter the fact that this band is a well oiled combo.

Bullet For My Valentine

The release of The Poison nearly 10 years ago, meant the big break-through for Welsh metalband Bullet For My Valentine. In some way, they managed to reinvent the heavy metal genre and they actually started the NWOBHM (=New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). They had everything to make it for a big audience: tight clean vocals, shredding screams and of course, they mastered their instruments extremely well. In the years that followed, they became immensely popular all over the world.
