Five Finger Death Punch - 2

Lately, tons of people have been worrying about the future of hard rock and metal. Some think it's on the verge of extinction because of a lack of big names within the genre. They realize that the 'golden oldies' will one day have to be replaced with other major headliner-worthy names. However, these people should not fear, because with Five Finger Death Punch, we have one of these names! Take some Slipknot, add some Killswitch Engage and even some Metallica and what you get is the perfect sound that these American guys produce.

Buckcherry

Formed in the mid-nineties, Los Angeles based Buckcherry burst into the scene in 1999 with a eponymous debut album that eventually reached gold. Their raw straight forward and honest sound was created by mixing punk, grunge and rock ‘n roll but without overthinking everything too much. From the beginning founding members Josh Todd (vocals) and Keith Nelson (guitar) were the creative force that led to hit singles such as the immortal party anthem ‘Lit Up’ and ‘For the Movies’.

Five Finger Death Punch

On our last get-together to update the website, our editor-in-chief had this album playing when I entered the CW headquarters, quite on purpose as it would turn out, because the moment he noticed that I was hummin' along with the song at hand, he readily volunteered the info that this (picking up the CD from his desk and handing it over to me) was his newest “discovery”, and that, in fact, he wanted the album to get the best promotion possible...and was therefore handing its review over to me.

Escape The Fate

My personal introduction to this Nevada based American Post-Hardcore/ Emo band came with its sophomore album This War Is Ours, which (like 2006's debut EP There's No Sympathy For The Dead and debut album Dying Is Your Latest Fashion, ànd the ensuing 2007 EP Situations) was released through Epitaph Records (review of the album with elaborate history-of-the-band up to that point was posted 12/10/2008, and still available for your scrutiny in this website's “Archive” section).
