Nocturnal

Nocturnal was formed out of the ashes of Bestial Desecration (a Teutonic trash metal band) somewhere in the year 2000. There was a new line up, but with the same vision: Trash metal highly inspired by bands from the German metal scene like Destruction.

Volture

I was really surprised when I opened my mailbox and saw there was a new Volture album came my way. 2012 wasn’t a easy year for the band around Ryan Waste (Municipal Waste) and guitarplayer Nick Poulos (Cannabis Corpse). Their label had to quit due some problems, their vocalist quitted after the European tour and after that tour there where only depts left. But now on the start of the new year fresh material is ready.

Black Magic

Well, where do I have to start with this one? Black Magic is a NWOBHM band that started in 2006 and already split- up in 2012. Now two years later, High Roller Records came out with their full length album Wizard’s Spell , counting five new numbers and the songs that where previous released on their Reap Of Evil demo in 2010.

Dead Lord

Dead Lord are a new band from Stockholm, Sweden and the first I can tell you is that the portrait of hard rock from the ’70s is the music of “Goodbye Repetance” for today. Don’t expect anything else apart from pure hard rock. Whoever had a taste of their 7″ EP “No Prayers Can Help You” could realize that the band loves Thin Lizzy and honestly the most guitar parts of the album are like a tribute to them on a way to thank them for what they have offered in music.

Procession

Procession is probably the best band in Chile to which the label doom metal might apply. While the melodies presented on To Reap Heavens Apart aren't groundbreaking for the genre, they are quite good and will certainly appeal to fans of doom metal bands such as Voodoo Shock, Solitude Aeturnus and Wall Of Sleep. The vocals by band leader/guitarist Felipe Plaza while by no means mind blowing, have enough heart and melody to make up for the melodramatic flair that can do this sort of music in if done incorrectly.

Sign Of The Jackal

Italian band Sign Of The Jackal was formed in 2007 and released a first demo-MCD in 2008, which was called Haunted House Tapes. Heavy Artillery Records re-released this stuff on vinyl somewhat later on, and it’s this label that also released the first official EP, The Beyond, in 2011.

Witchburner

German thrashers Witchburner are active for two decades in mean time, yet still they haven’t gone soft or surrendering. After a couple of line-up changes (new vocalist + new lead guitarist) and after signing to a new label (High Roller), the band returns with full length number seven, Bloodthirsty Eyes. The new stuff lasts for about thirty six minutes.

Desaster

Aaaahrghhh, my sweet Desaster! Creators of one of my all-time favourite albums, A Touch Of Medieval Darkness (1995), and owners of lots of other ex-cel-lent releases in between their formation during the end of the eighties and their actual presentation. Deutsche Gründlichkeit!

A new epos, done by Odin (b), Infernal (g), Tormentor (d) and Sataniac (v), with Teutonic harshness and Barbaric mercilessness. Hail the goat!

Züül

I recently got a record of the band named Züül, A band with little info to be found about. so for those who missed it, Züül is  an American metal band from Illinois. These guys play a mix of heavy metal with hard rock with here and there some pro elements. The sound of this band reminds me of "The Sword".

Bunker 66

Bunker 66 hail from Messina, an historical city on Sicily, Italy. The band debuted in 2009 with the grandiose EP Out Of The Bunker, originally self-released in a limited edition, and re-released later on both CD and vinyl. Infernö Interceptörs is the second studio release (there was a live-EP in mean time, which was brought out as part of FenrizBand Of The Week vinyl series) and this eight-tracker is an enormous step forward in comparison to the former record.
