Memento Mori

Ectoplasma

The meaning of ‘ectoplasma’ is like the excretion of tangible material, or also spiritual energy, being separated or projected when being in a trancelike state, or by the substantification of ghosts / spirits / immaterial entities transforming into a physical shape. It comes from the Greek language (‘ektos’, which means ‘external’, and plasma, you know…), and that’s exactly the country where this same-named band hails from as well.

Insepulto

Insepulto are an act from Costa Rica (of all places) that were formed during the first half of the nineties. However, back then they did not mean something important, maybe with exception within the local scene. They did split up, but in 2008 Insepulto reformed, and in 2012 the band did release a first album, called Morbid Spawn Of Resurrection via Wydawnictwo Muzyczne Psycho from Poland.

Deprive

One of the most active guys from the Extreme Metal scene from Spain must be a guy who goes under many nicknames, amongst which Erun Dagoth.

Morbidity

With exception of Hallucination, Necrolepsy and mighty Barzak (they changed their name in mean time), I think I have never heard of any Bangladesh-based Metal-band before. Don’t worry; it’s not that Bangladesh houses such a huge scene. But one cannot deny the qualities of the few bands that (seem to) dwell out there. Brings me to this band, Morbidity, also from the capital of Dhaka, debuting with Revealed From Ashes on mighty Memento Mori.

Spina Bifida

Before I joined Concreteweb’s crew, I wrote reviews for my own sake. I made one for each single recording I bought (tapes, vinyl, and as from the Nineties also CD’s) for my own pleasure. Then, almost fifteen years ago, I joined Concreteweb (it’s a dirty job but someone has to do it; and how else would this label gain such a superior status if I wasn’t involved? …indeed, I thought so…).

Horrified

I know a couple of bands named as ‘Horrified’, but this review deals with the UK-based one, an act with former or current members of e.g. Plague Rider, Winds Of Genocide and Risen Prophecy. In early 2013 they released a (first?) demo, and now they debut with Descent Into Putridity, an expression of the old styled filth we all felt in love with two, maybe three decades ago.

Vexilla Regis Prodeunt Inferi

The nameless debut full length by Mexico’s Vexilla Regis Prodeunt Inferi was initially released on CD in August 2012 via Onslaught Records. Orgasmatron Records took care of the release on tape, and the vinyl edition (12”EP) saw the light in 2013 via Abyssmo Productions. And now there’s a re-issue once again, this time via mighty Memento Mori, and with inclusion of the untitled 2011-demo as bonus.
