These Finnish metallers sure know their game: powerful, terrific hooks; heavily overloaded sweeping rhythms; and fantastic, scorching guitar work relying on fast-mid paced, yet imaginative enough drumming. This is one well-functioning unit. And thanks to all of the above, the album flows very nicely and manages to maintain focus and interest, with a couple of softer moments, for the sake of variation. The songs are all well-written and display the band's undeniable talent. Okay, not all of the songs on this release hooked me, but I did dig the variety of the music presented and the charismatic female vocals by new singer Norah . Based on the band name, you can have a pretty good idea of what you'll get on Battle Beast, grind to metal. In this sense, Battle Beast have accomplished its mission... Battle Beast’s power metal stylings alternate between Priest, Grim Reaper, Torch, Nightwish and Accept. The production is strong, and a few of the songs are good fun, in a mindless, galloping, fist-pumping true metal way. Other times, like on the poppy-synthy “Machine revolution”, things get rather embarrassing. A worthwhile listen, even so.
Battle Beast won't disappoint the traditional heavy metal fan.
