Lisbon Blues? Well, For The Glory certainly hails from suburbs of the Portuguese capital city, but don't expect 'em to be playing Blues music! Nay, FTG are a Hardcore band, and part of the very active...in fact the best represented music scene in that city!

Formed in 2003, FTG represents the more fierce side of the Hardcore-Punk scene. Following the release of a demo, the guys (current line-up – probably unchanged over the years, for loyalties are the most important asset in the city's Hardcore scene – consisting of lead singer Ricardo Dias, guitarists Sérgio Bernardo and Joâo Reis, bassist Rui Brás, and drummer Pedro Conceiçâo) the band released their debut MCD Drown In Blood on the Raging Planet and I Owe You Nothing imprints. Followed the 7-inches Somethings Won't Last Forever (issued by Carthago Records) and Darker Days (Hardknox Records), and a first full-length entitled Survival Of The Fittest (original release 2007 on Raging Planet Records, re-issued in 2009 through German label Dead Serious Recordings with bonus tracks and multimedia).

Followed a relatively long period of non-recording, which was ended in the summer of 2010, when the band celebrated its friendship with the bands Black Friday '29, City To City and Last Mile, by recording a split 7-inch which would be released in a joint effort by I Owe You Nothing, Hell Xis, and Golden Days. In 2011, the band finally came out of the confines of its own country, as they toured Europe in promotion of their sophomore album Some Kids Have No Face (which was also released in a 500-copy limited edition picture disc vinyl version in a joint venture by the labels Hell Xis, Raging Planet and Destroy Your World Inc.). As the title of the album suggests, the material exhibited the members' feelings about everyday issues, but also raises a sense of criticism towards a society based upon greed and the lack of such important values as integrity, compassion, and respect. In other words, the Portuguese band showed to people all over Europe what Hardcore is really about! The band's status changed to the point that, during 2012, they were now allowed to play on several Metal and Hardcore festivals, playing on the same stages of some of the bigger bands in the music scene. The year was ended perfectly with the release (through Save My Soul Records) of a split 7-inch with the band's good friends World Eater.

The year is 2013, and it was time for FTG to record another album to spread their message even more. Now, I may have understood wrongly, but either the band signed onto existing label Rastilho Records, or they founded it themselves (I'm afraid I didn't quite investigate thoroughly enough when doin' my research on the band). At any rate, here's the band's third full-length now. Expect strong lyrical views (frequently expressed with “gang” vocals, provided by the bassist and guitarist Joâo), expect high-energy Metallic Hardcore with catchy grooves. Expect, in short, to be flabbergasted by this band's music, because it's no second to any of the so much bigger acts in the scene! Convince yourselves by listening to some older songs on the band's facebook page (http://) nl-nl.facebook.com/fortheglory (I' afraid no songs off the new album were posted there when I did my research, last week), and check whether there's anything off the new album at (www.) myspace.com/fortheglory (the network pc I do my research on has stil not been upgraded, and therefore doesn't allow me to open that page).
