Say...what kind of skullduggery is this!? According to the info we got along with our download copy of the debut album of this Palermo (Sicily) based Italian “Post Math Rock” (sic) act, this album is supposed to be relatively new, when in fact Qanat already released it back in November 2010! trying to pull a fast one over us, eh? Oh well, we don't really mind as much, you know...because we missed it the first time around, didn't we? (actually, there shouldn't even be a question mark at the end of that sentence, because I checked an made sure that we didn't)

Apparently the instrumental quartet consisting of Emanuele (guitar), Betto (bass), Giancarlo (guitar) and Pit (drums) have been playing together since March 2007...well, except for Pit, whom replaced Wolf at the end of 2012, meaning Wolf was still in the band when they went into Palermo's 21esimo Livello with recording/ mixing/ mastering engineer Pietro Pitingaro. Although the band uses the term “Post Math Rock” as a description for their music, they willingly admit to crossing all genre boundaries, and feel free to be led by intuition to make their tracks work for the best. Except for the album closing song, the 20 ½ minute-long “St. Anthony's Fire” (which goes through several moods and has spoken word passages rather than sung vocals) all nine tracks on the album are instrumental.

For your introduction to the band's music, you can either check the 3 videos (none of which apparently related to the album's tracks – sorry, I forgot to check more closely) posted at (www.) facebook.com/indicative, or check one of the following : (www.) myspace.com/indicativeband (could not check myself due to my network PC not having been upgraded lately), (www.) reverbnation.comindicative (they usually sport the same material as facebook), and (http://) vimeo.com/indicative (2 of the same videos as on facebook). Oh, and I almost forgot : at (www.) qqanatrecords.bandcamp.com/album/indicative, you'll actually find 5 playable tracks!

Since the album's release, the band has worked on the production of a DVD with video artist Gianluca Scuderi, whom made a clip for the completely new track “Yellow Sky”, a beauty no less than 19 ½ minutes long (including passages from a 1948 Western movie with Gregory Peck being manipulated). They have also played live shows with the VM18 event (organized/ produced by Qanat Records and Sick Fram Factory), which involves 5 bands and 5 video makers making video and music for 18 minute bursts. No idea what else the guys have been up to, but I feel it's time they got around to recording a new full-length album, I do! Meanwhile...I simply love instrumental music, and these guys dó incorporate alternate stuff quite appropriately, so, let's add “Indicative” to our 2010 year-lists with the rating to match!
