This band was formed the year I was born in.  But it took them seven years before releasing their first album, and it took them some years to become famous worldwide, although in the rock scene they already had made some reputation.  They acquired international success with their 1984 singe ‘Still Loving You’, taken from the ‘Love At First Sting’ album.

A few years ago they started on a farewell tour, and announced the end of their career, releasing what was first meant to be their last full album ‘Sting In The Tail’.  A farewell tour that has been going on for quite some years now, while in the mean time they released another album ‘Comeblack’.

One way or another, it seems they changed their minds, and at least for the moment, want to continue. Coinciding with their 50th anniversary, The Scorpions now release a new album ‘Return To Forever’.

And it has become what you could call a typical Scorpions album, containing some fine rock tracks, and the obligatory ballad(s) as well.

As far as the songs are concerned, it seems they are a mix of older, eighties stuff that never made it on any of their albums, combined with some new material.  Sadly enough it is not on par with what I’d easily call their best album ‘Black Out’.  But who cares, it’s nice to listen to these guys who at their age could have enjoyed being a senior citizen, instead of touring the world.
