Not to be confused with bands by the same name [most notably the Thrash/ Death Metal act from Miami, Florida, there's also band with the name from Holland playing Doom/ Death Metal), the US (Alternative Rock act from Arkansas) and no less than three from the UK (one from Huddersfield playing just “Metal”, another from Bradford playing Epic Doom Metal, and the last one from Milton Keynes, playing a hybrid of Folk, Prog and Rock)] this Post-Hardcore quintet (consisting of lead singer Maarten Vanarwegen, guitarists Erwin Wehenkel and Glenn Catteeuw, bassist/ backing singer Wout Leemans and drummer Nick Coenen) may be quite young to the Belgian scene (formed only last year), but the band's members have already picked up experience playing in other bands (most notably When Hope Escapes)...and that's something which one hears very well when listening to the band's self-titled debut 5-track EP (you know, experience always translates to quality...with some exceptions, but certainly not here!), recorded late October of last at The Penthouse Studio with Filip De Bot.

Taking their influences from the likes of Anberlin, Conditions, The Dangerous Summer, Saosin, Young Guns and Thrice, the guys bring a catchy and melodic Post-Hardcore with Heavy Rock elements, which should (so says the label) also feel familiar to fans of Funeral For A Friend, Circa Survive, Sent By Ravens, Recover, and others of that ilk! Having had its premiere at Aarschot's venue De Klinker, the EP can be listened to in its entirety at the band's facebook page [surf to (www.) wearesolstice.com, and you get automatically linked; Click on “Music” and you get redirected to the EP's page on Bandcamp). Mastering of the material was done by the famed Alan Douches at his West West Side Music studio in New York, so you know that the sound quality is just hunky-dory! Although 22 minutes seems a bit short, the EP is an excellent introduction for the band, and should see the fivesome play at several smaller festivals during the upcoming Summer!
