Sonata Artica” a powermetalband from Finland. Named before “Tricky Beans (1996), Tricky Means (1997) and in 1999 finally they chooses “Sonata Arctica”. The sound is more Melodic than power but is well accepted in the powermetal community. They made before 7 albums with success last one “Stones Grow Her Name” sold 2100 copies in the first week of the release. Members are: Tommy Portimo (drums), Pasi Kauppinen (bas), Tony Kakko (vocal), Elias Viljanen (guitar) and Henrik Klingenberg (keys).

After 2 years waiting they made their eighth full album “Pariah’s Child”. With the words of vocalist Tommy; "As always, it's pretty hard coming up with a name for the new baby. I tried to approach it from many angles; how this is our eighth album and how easy it would be to abuse that fact. All the symbolism of figure eight, eternity and so on. But that just did not feel right, as it's been done so many times. Then I started to think how we'd in ways abandoned our 'totem animal,' the wolf and all what comes with the territory”. And every time I must repeat you like it or not! Melodically the songs are very good nice straight voice and keys. Even some experimental tries with new sounds.  Like “blood” a sound starting with a hawling wolf and some nice piece of piano play. But the only thing is than all the song sounds so similar, an extract of another song. If you like this Power (melodic) metal don’t hesitated to buy this record.
