Thy Symphony is another band coming to us from South America, in particular from Brazil.  They were formed in 2001 – already – but it took them ten years to  release their debut album ‘Harmonizing The World’ in 2010, or was that 2011 ?  How on earth these guys got a deal on the Greek Sleazy Rider album is a mystery to me, but whatever.

What is rather typical for this band are the dual vocals, on the one hand Karina Bonizi, who does the female, and almost completely ‘opera like’ vocals, and on the other hand you have Leandro Baracho, who does a bit of ‘normal’ singing, besides the opera like stuff.

I am not completely convinced by this album.  It has it’s good moments, but it is almost as if they tried to compose classical music, and bring this with modern, electrical instruments.  Besides the fact that I find that this gets boring after a few songs, the vocals themselves are after a while annoying me greatly.  The lady can sing, that’s for sure, but besides the odd parts left and right, does it have to sound almost identical in all songs?  The male vocals are not my cup of tea either.  He tries to follow the lady but fails miserably.

To sum it up: maybe this band has some potential in it, but the vocals should improve a lot, if they want to stand a chance between all the other symphonic metal bands.
