Stoner rock is a subgenre that I don’t play too often I must admit, so it was with a bit of mixed feelings when I noticed this album, the third from these Aussie rockers, had slipped into my batch.

Not being that used to listen to that type of music, I also must admit that it didn’t put me of.  I wasn’t overwhelmed by it either, but all in all I was rather pleased by it.  OK, you’ve got to get accustomed to the vocals, which remind me a bit of Soundgarden or even CCR.  Another band this band reminds me of are the Foo Fighters.

The albums seems to be some kind of concept album, based upon some gunslinger or pistolero as they are called in Spanish. But after 13 songs I had more than enough.  Thu music is not bad, but almost all of the songs have the same speed, and next to that in a band with only 3 musicians, there is of course not much room to alternate your music a lot. See for instance Mötorhead, who basically play the same type of songs since their beginnings.

80/100
