Dutch band Vengeance have been around since 1983 already, but if you don’t count the album that was only released in Japan, and the live album, this is only their eleventh album.  Line-up changes have been countless over the years, but with one or two constants always returning, that being singer Leon Goewie –  he’s been replaced one some occasions, and guitarist Jan Somers.  Sadly enough Jan Somers died in 2011 from a heart attack, but his son Timo who had already played in the band together with his father, stood in the footsteps of his father.

As ever before the vocals on this album by Leon are great.  And after all these years the band even managed to surprise me a bit, by recording ‘Back To Square One’, a song that could easily have been on a Gary Moore album, because it’s a blues rock ballad.

Best track on the album, for me, is ‘Raintime’ but it’s only 3 and a half minutes long sadly enough.  It’s a song that features some nice, Spanish like guitar work.  Another very good song is the final track ‘Goodbye Mother Sky’.

Minus points however for the rather ugly artwork.
