Zozobra is the new band of Caleb Scofield, known from bands such as Old Man Gloom and the well-known Cave In. Nowadays, also his Cave In colleagues Adam McGrath and JR Conners joined in on the new record Savage Masters.
Although Zozobra seemed to go in the post-rock direction, they clearly stepped off of this idea on this EP. Savage Masters literally bathes in sludge, supported by a pounding rhythm that shakes you to the bone and which keeps sticking underneath your skin, even the next day. The music is extremely fast and often bends to a dark punk sound. That's thanks to the bass guitar, which often takes the leading role throughout Savage Masters.
People who fancy bands such as Amenra and Lair Of The Minotaur will definitely dig the new Zozobra.
