Inferna Profundus Records

Wampyric Rites / Funeral Fullmoon

Inferna Profundus Records is a label from Lithuania, dedicated to the Underground scene of the worldwide Black Metal community. The label houses bands and projects from all over our marvelous globe, with a focus on both new material as well as reissues of material that needs and deserves any additional support. Hey, count me in!

Nocturnal Prayer

Even-though Inferna Profundus Records (which is, for what it’s worth, one of my mostly preferred labels lately!) did release two hands full of great new (and older, re-released) material in the meantime (reviews will follow soon!), I couldn’t just ignore this older recording by Canadian act Nocturnal Prayer. I know that it is a personal opinion, but I did deeply adore this project’s former stuff passionately (cf.: see below for a couple of links on former reviews for this Arctic horde).

Abduction

This review does not deal with a new album, yet with a re-issue of what I do consider a monument. That’s a personal opinion, but many Black Metal adepts will surely agree. And those not aware (yet) of this stuff will mostly follow my opinion too. I did write a review on the original edition of All Pain As Penance ‘back then’ (2019). It was (soon) sold out (all physical editions), and one of the labels involved at that moment, i.e. Inferna Profundus Records from Lithuanian soil, decided to have this stuff reprinted again.

Vampirska

Vampirska are a young yet mysterious entity from North-American soil, which I do appreciate a lot. Due to circumstances, however (and unfortunately), I did not have the time to write a review on this act’s (fabulous) stuff before. But hey, now I will inject my energy in a description of this project’s latest recording, which is called Vermilion Apparitions Frozen In Chimera Twilight.

Nocturnal Prayer

From the cold, stormy Atlantic shores of Canada, please bid welcome to Nocturnal Prayer, a trio that gathered to spread evil, blasphemy, misanthropy. Three human (I guess) entities, being Murder (all strings), Nausea (drums) and Cancer (chants), joined forces under the blood-dripping flag of Nocturnal Prayer.

Abduction

Phil Illsley used to be the lead vocalist in Lordaeron for several years, and he’s involved with bands such as Taken By The Tide or Death Tripper too. But as A|V, he recently started the project Abduction. This solo-outfit is modestly productive, for Abduction recently released a new full-length album, the third one in nearly two years. The working title of that recording is All Pain Is Penance.

Serpentine Apostle

The flame is burning, even where least expected…

I had not heard about Serpentine Apostle, but this band from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, indeed seems to be covered in mystery and enigma. As far as I think that I’m informed, they (don’t know whether this is a one-human entity or a combo with several hominids) did record just one thing until now, and that’s the single Three Envenomed Fangs. As said, there is just one track on that EP, though it has a total running time of 17:19 minutes. Indeed, prepare for an intense sonic journey…
