Stevie Ray Vaughan And Double Trouble

Oh my God.  Have thirty years really passed since the original release of ‘Texas Flood’?  Yes sir, there’s no denying that, and my wrinkles and receding hair line are there to prove it.

Now I occasionally like my portion of blues-rock, but at the time the original album was released, I was only interested in heavy metal or hard rock, so while I did listen to this album once in a while, it was not an album that I played a lot.

Avatar

I had no idea what to think of this band/album.  It’s true I hadn’t even heard of the band before, yet it’s already their fourth album since their debut in 2001.  But in my opinion not knowing this band hasn’t done much damage to my system.

Avatar

Avatar from Stockholm are not that well known outside their native country where they have already built themselves quite a reputation. After releasing three albums, Swedish metal band Avatar is back with their fourth full-length album Black Waltz. Avatar surprise with overwhelming song writing and a lot of variation.. Although it has a strong industrial Manson versus Ramstein touch, it’s comes across very refreshingly. It’s just fun listening to the entire album.

The Shins

The Shins really wanted to start with a clean sheet again before releasing new music. Therefore, singer and guitar player James Mercer kicked out all band members and replaced them with some fresh blood. Such a thing could go in two directions of course: or it would be a huge success for The Shins, or it would be a huge disappointment again, which could lead to the hiatus of The Shins.
