Ectoplasma

The meaning of ‘ectoplasma’ is like the excretion of tangible material, or also spiritual energy, being separated or projected when being in a trancelike state, or by the substantification of ghosts / spirits / immaterial entities transforming into a physical shape. It comes from the Greek language (‘ektos’, which means ‘external’, and plasma, you know…), and that’s exactly the country where this same-named band hails from as well.

Perihelion

Hailing from Debrecen, a Hungarian city close to the Romanian border, Perihelion were formed at the very beginning of this century under the moniker of Neokhrome.

Arkhon Infaustus

I do (did) follow Arkhon Infaustus as from the transgression from last century to the current one. I do (did) surely appreciate all releases this French band did in the past (especially released via Osmose Productions), but I was not exactly totally blown away either (personal opinion – nothing you need to worry about) – yet at the same time, I think this band improved throughout their existence. So, I wasn’t exactly depressed when they split up about a decade ago, but still it was a pity.

Ergotism

There is a band called Ergotism that hails from France, a duo performing Black Metal and known from a self-called independently released full length in August 2015.

Hteththemeth

A young but quite interesting label, born to promote the underground of the Extreme Metal scene, and to distribute releases from especially the local scene, is Romania-based Loud Rage Music. They have some interesting bands on their roster, with three hands full of acceptable releases (for several of them, I did write a review in the meantime, and there are a couple of them coming up soon). But I do really adore the fact that they try to promote their local, national scene too.

A-Sun Amissa

In 2011, Gizeh Records owner Richard Knox (also in e.g. Shield Patterns, Glissando and The Rustle Of The Stars) started a project called A-Sun Amissa as an instrumental outlet for his many ideas.

Escupemetralla

<<< Escupemetralla are the result of a series of retrotransmissions that will be carried out in the mid 21st Century at the Thorne’s Cone Light Reversion Laboratory For Children of Los Alamos, Texas (Federal States Of Mexico and Puerto Rico) >>>

Dropzone

My passion (my wife doesn’t call it a passion yet rather an obsession – whatever…) for the extremest regions of Metal was born during the second half of the Eighties (shut up, I know I’m getting old). Back then, there were a couple of labels that were truly leading – many of them being defunct in mean time (or transformed into some gay Pop Music entity – no further comment). Anyway, at the very early nineties, one of those eminent labels, at least to my opinion, was Osmose Productions.

Disembowel

This is my first acquaintance with Disembowel, but that’s not that crazy for this band will come up with their first full length right now. The trio started terrorizing the world of Sonic Sadism in 2012, and in Summer 2014 they did release a first EP independently. That EP, called Act Of Invocation, was re-released in 2017 by Iron Bonehead Productions, apparently, but I’ve seemed to miss it somehow.

Svartsinn

For almost two decades, Norway’s Svartsinn can easily be considered one of the most impressive acts within the Scandinavian (and worldwide) Dark Ambient scene. The project was born at the very end of last century, created by Trondheim, Norway born Jan Roger Pettersen. Throughout the years, there were not that much official releases, yet all of them put they mark on the universal Dark Ambient landscape. Within quite a lengthy list with influential artists, Jan Roger might play within the premier league, I think.
