Various: Metal For Jezus

Hallelujah, the Pope is a fan!!

Metal for Jesus is a compilation cd with 17 tracks divided among five groups:

Narnia, Audiovision, Divinefire, Golden Resurrection and Modest Attraction.

The album genre is mostly power metal, and allways with religious texts (quite obvious when the album name is Metal For Jezus).

Benesser

I don’t know for certain, but is it normal for a band whose members have been together for 15 years already, to wait that long to release a debut album ?  Originally these guys started under the name of No Brakes and played on some festivals, but at a certain moment they changed their name to Benesser.  They hail from Sweden, and according to the leaflet that accompanied the album, their music should appeal to people liking bands like Muse, Coldplay, Rush, and a few other bands.

Shadows Past

This band was formed in 2000 by ex Insania singer Ola Halén.They recorded several demos, the last one being released in 2009. As a matter of fact three songs of that last demo were refurbished and feature on this album.

My Endless Wishes

My Endless Wishes was formed in 2005, by Frida and Martin Viberg, who actually are married since 2006.  The themselves describe their music influences being bands like Nightwish, Evanescence, Within Temptation etc.

No Possession Blues

If you’re into blues rock, mixed with rockabilly, then this might be an album you’ll like.  Ot he other hand if you’re into hard rock or metal, then avoid this album at all costs. These guys are not bad at what they’re doing, but it’s far from original.  And the mix between blues rock and rockabilly also sounds a bit strange to me.  Imagine you’re listening to a Stevie Ray Vaughan  album, and all of a sudden the Stray Cats kick in…

Lancer

If you’re a fan of heavy metal à la Iron Maiden of Helloween, then read no more, but go out and buy this album immediately. Of course the vocalist is not as good as Bruce Dickinson or Andi Deris, but he’s almost there.
