Hum...not a lot of info on this band to be found on the Internet, and it's therefore a blessing that we still have the info sheet we got along with the promo copy of the album! So, with further ado, let's just “copy-paste” (huh...like as if!) the info found there, with the sparse additions we díd find!

Formed in 2009, Beelzefuzz is a Heavy Rock trio from the North East of Maryland, who thus far released demos in 2010 (a 4-track affair which got the band a loyal fanbase in the New England area), 2011 (a 5-tracker which consolidated that fanbase), and 2012 (a 4-tracker which eventually got the band signed to UK label The Church Within Records). Consisting of mainstays Dana Orrt (lead vocals & guitar), Pug (bass, formerly of Moonshine Mile) and Darin McCloskey (drums, joined the first mentioned in 2011, and was formerly playing with Sinister Realm – he currently is apparently also still a member of Crowned In Earth, Falcon, Origin Konrad, and Pale Divine), the band mixes up a unique style of Heavy Rock which contains elements of early '70s bands like Uriah Heep, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath on the one hand, and the likes of Pentagram, Graveyard and Earthride on the other...in other words, they bring a nice retro-sounding Doom Rock/ Metal, supported however by modern recording techniques. The band gets a brand of its own thanks to Orrt's relatively high-pitched vocal stylings which are quite reminiscent to a blending of David Byron, John Lawton (both singers with Uriah Heep for a certain period) and Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad (I'll freely admit to having shamelessly taken that description from the info sheet, but agreeing to that assessment for the greatest part, will add that he's also given more than adequate backing).

For the album, the band used the complete 2012 demo, added the track “Lotus Jam” off the 2011 demo, and added three more songs for a nearly 37-minute full-length which will please any lover of classic Doom Metal! Not being able to log onto Myspace (due to the network PC I use for my research still not having been upgraded yet), I cannot tell you what's available there, as far as audio material goes, but at (http://) soundcloud.com/beelzefuzz, you can listen to the album opening “Reborn”. Oh, and there's a possibility to download two more songs (off the 2011 demo) at (www.) facebook.com/pages/Beelzefuzz. I haven't actually listened to those, but going on what's on the album, I'm sure they're representative for what the band usually does! Check it out and, like myself, fall in love with what this band brings! I know, what's available ain't a lot, but I'm sure it will do the job, and incite quite a few among you into trying to get the album as well! Gosh...sometimes one has to hark back to things of old, to re-discover what incredibly melodic and catchy elements one can find in relatively simple music! Not that this kind of music doesn't demand a certain mastering of one's instruments, mind you!

Ach, what wonderful retro-ish greatness! More than worthy of a place in my year-lists, I say!
