On June 7th we did an update for the split 7”EP in between Israthoum and Chalice Of Blood, released too via Daemon Worship Productions. Both bands contributed with a great track – but read the review yourself and find out…
Just one month after that split, Daemon Worship Productions and Chalice Of Blood came back with the MLP Helig, Helig, Helig, a nineteen minutes assault mercilessly cut into five sadistic pieces. The material was produced by Marduk’s Lars Broddesson and simply continues the trend they once started. Indeed, there is nothing ‘new’ to explore, but why changing a winning concept?
Helig, Helig, Helig opens with Hoor-Paar-Kraat (what?), a short instrumental guitar-based introduction with fierce and fiery drum patterns, and indeed: it does show what this band has to offer as from now on. As from Nightside Serpent on, the listener will go through blackened spheres of (somewhat traditional) necrotic, pitch-black and sacrificial Black anthems, monumental in approach, magisterial in execution, massive in sound. There is a certain dissonance in execution, caused by that creepy and chilly guitar sound and high-technical performance; elements that get to its peak through pieces like Shemot. Damn, such intensity in combination with sonic glory is rather rare lately within an overcrowded scene. Chalice Of Blood, however, once again convince, they succeed to show their supremacy towards the majority of the current scene. With The Communicants, the lengthiest piece on this release (it clocks seven minutes), Chalice Of Blood sort of assemble the core elements of their glorious heritance: technical craftsmanship, rhythmic power, melodious finesse and traditional persuasion. So, when I was expressing my appreciation for this band’s part on the split with Israthoum, I wasn’t just deliriously distancing myself from reality. This piece of m*therf*ckin’ nastiness proves that I was right (once again). So, dear people, what do you think about a full length in a near future?... I for sure am horny already…
