Recently I wrote a review for the demo-collection De Retibus Morbiferis – Demo Compendium, which did collect the 2012- and 2013-demos Inopia Et Morbo and Sacrificium Necrothytum. That release must be considered as sort of gift to us, dear listeners, or as an additional highlight to Délétère’s debut full length album Les Heures De La Peste. …with eternal gratitude to Québec-based Sepulchral Productions. For the review: see update on December 22nd 2015!
With Les Heures De La Peste, the duo Thorleïf (vocals, drums and synths) and Atheos (all strings) created forty eight minutes of material that goes on in the vein of both excellent demonstrational recordings. Firmly rooted within the tradition of the Quebecois Black Metal scene, this material stands for majestic, grim, epic and melodic Black Metal, filled with energy, pride, craftsmanship and a glorious Second Wave-oriented approach in both performance and sound. …and atmosphere… But Délétère go further, by adding lots of own elements, by being different than the ‘average’ band, by composing stuff that is way beyond ‘majesty’. …and by being able to have each single track sound different than any other, yet while still maintaining a very cohesive basic. That’s a unique strength! It is one of those entities that is able to create sophisticated material with a trusted background, and that’s something honourable!
I was about to write something about each single track, but I‘d like to ask you to let the Music do the talking. You need to experience this yourself, unprejudiced and objective. Prepare for quite some aural extremity of the bleakest and blackest kind. Just consider this album a monumental piece of Quebec Black Metal superiority.
