Exmortus are a very heavy formation from California. After some self-released EP’s, the band released two full lengths via Heavy Artillery Records, In Hatred’s Flame (2008) and Beyond The Fall Of Time (2011). Recently Exmortus signed to Prosthetic’s roster in order to release their third full studio album, Slave To The Sword, which lasts for fifty minutes.

Slave To The Sword brings classical, up-tempo, energetic and shredding Death-edged Thrash Metal with a modern edge. It’s pretty predictable, but well-performed and technically high-skilled. But it lacks of any miniscule detail of originality. In case of superior craftsmanship I wouldn’t care, but this time I am not convinced at all. I have heard this before, often worse, yet sometimes much better too. And that’s why I won’t spend any more time. Just remember: if you are really ‘into’ catchy and technical Death / Thrash / Shred / Heavy Metal stuff, you need to check this out. If you are not, just skip it…
