Groteskh hail from Austria and consist of (current and former) members of bands like Hellsaw, Irdorath, Obscure and Vomition. They did record this debut with Mario Lochert (Emergency Gate) at Munich’s Dreamsound Studio.

Unconsciousness brings a form of grim yet melodic, both modern and timeless, slightly Post-oriented and Necro-inspired Melodic Black Metal with a chilly, oppressive atmosphere and a slightly epic sound. The scenes from Germany and (especially) Norway are rather evident (yet again: see the members’ roots!), but Groteskh spice the whole up with a slightly personal approach. No, it does not mean that this band brings something completely renewing. That’s not the case at all. Groteskh however sort of translate Nordic-inspired Black Grimness with an Alpine tongue; and don’t we all love that? It’s like the classic school penetrated with post-modern skills, yet not of the (hi-fi or sci-fi) avant-garde or progressive kind. And besides, the many surpluses are of undeniable importance: well-thought tempo-changes, experimental intermezzos and breaks, the Immortal-meet-Satyricon-meet-Darkthrone atmosphere, Lupus Lounge-alike play, etc.
