Nekrofilth are a project by NunSlaughter / Crucified Mortals’ Zack ‘Massacre’ Rose, which did surprise me a lot with their first demo in 2008, called Worship Destruction. That material was re-released on vinyl in spring 2011 via Hells Headbangers Records, by the way, and reviewed by undersigned – see upload, within the Archive-section, on May 8th 2011. Another review I did for this act was for Devil’s Breath – see update November 3rd 2013 – but they did release some splits and EP’s too in mean time. And now the very same label, once again, will re-release the second demo too, Filling My Blood With Poison…, which was originally self-released on January 1st 2009 in a very limited edition (on tape back then, on vinyl right now).
Of course there is not such a huge difference in between this demo and the first one, and that’s just fine, because I think this band was at its strongest in the earlier years. The band mixes blackened Thrash Metal with quite some Bathory / Venom / Blasphemy-elements, with Death / Black / Speed / Thrash ugliness à la Profanatica, Bulldozer and Sarcófago, injected with quite some (Street) Punk / Crossover aspects (Discharge, D.R.I. or GBH do come to mind), doomier passages à la Hellhammer and very early Celtic Frost, and elements from primitive, uncompromising no-nonsense Proto-Death filthiness in the vein of Repulsion, Autopsy / Abscess and NunSlaughter. On top of it, the very raw production co-creates that primitive yet highly attractive extra dimension of uncompromising loudness.
Oh yes, this demo included / includes a GBH-cover, Necrophilia, showing the non-deniable influence of these punks on Nekrofilth’s sound and approach. It’s a great version of that song, being at least as catching and anti-trendy as 1) the original version and 2) their own ‘songs’. Rock’n’Roll baby!
