Anthology sort of means career overview, in the case of Florida”s power metal band “ SEASON’S OF THE WOLF“ it’s a rather a rerelease of two albums only available on tape when originally released end of the eighties early nineties… The band info sheet that comes with this double cd, mentions that SOTW has influences from such eighties class acts like “METAL CHURCH” and “SAVATAGE”.. Of course this means that my expectations of what’s being served is skyrocketing…..Unfortunately it’s turns out that nor the “METAL CHURCH” nor the “SAVATAGE “ influences are present, instead SOFW presents us -granted- decent melodic heavy metal with quiet an important part for keyboards but not quiet at the level of progpower giants like fates warning, lethal, queensryche etcetera… What’s missing is a song that grabs you and does not let go, what we have insteadis a lot of good idea’s but not the skills to keep one’s attention… prog/power fanatics which want it all can go out and purchase “ anthology” the rest of us might not be bothered…
