Twitching Tongues are a quintet with several Disgrace-members (the one from Los Angeles, California) (guitar players Taylor Young (also vocals) and Leo Orozco, vocalist Colin Young, drummer Mike Cesario, and bassist Kyle Thomas), that I knew from their 2011-long player Sleep Therapy (I Scream Records) only. Apparently there were a split and an EP in 2012 as well. This sophomore full length was recorded, produced, engineered and mixed by the band’s guitarist / vocalist Taylor Young at The Pit, and lasts for thirty eight minutes. The mastering was done at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright, who also did the mastering of some stuff for bands like Cleric, Deviated Instinct, Toxic Holocaust, Noothgrush or Jucifer, amongst tens of others.

In Love There Is No Law is another unique experience, for the album combines elements from Metal and Hardcore. The symbiosis brings pounding, grooving, straight-forward yet rather slow-paced material with the elegance of the eighties, the melodies of timeless guitar-driven aggression, rough but clean vocals and a couple of slightly grunting shouts, a sledge-hammering rhythm section, loads of hooks and tempo-changes, and tradition prevailing on progression.

The bio says that the album ‘melds elements of Carnivore, Obituary, Celtic Frost, Life Of Agony, Sam Black Church, Cro-Mags and Sheer Terror into an instantly mesmerizing, morose and wholly distinctive alloy of metal, hardcore and beyond’. I guess this can do as description, even though I really want to add ‘Doom’ in one way or another (indeed there is a huge dose of grumpy Doom in each single composition, which can not be ignored at all!), as well as bands like earlier Machine Head, Pantera and even Type O Negative or Black Sabbath.

Much stronger and more convincing than Sleep Therapy, and pretty refreshing. But still not pleasing me with total aural satisfaction.
