Wrong are a Spanish duo, i.e. Phlegeton of Banished From Inferno / Human Minder / Wormed / Nüll / Unsane Crisis-fame (and many others; besides, he’s very active as visual artist, having created (cover) artwork for tens of Metal bands such as Avulsed, Vidres A La Sang or Unfathomable Ruination), and David ‘DP’ Pérez (think: ex-Neverdie, currently in Heavy Popeye and The YTriple Corporation). In mean time, Phlegeton also joined The YTriple Corporation’s crew, a melodic Death Metal band that was formed by DP a decade ago. Both guys joined forces once again in 2012 under the name of Wrong, with the intention to bring a mutually-shared vision of post-apocalyptic gloom and ambitious chaos.

…which brings us to Wrong’s debut album, which isn’t ‘wrong’ at all. With five tracks clocking in between six and nine minutes, Memories Of Sorrow became a melodic and melancholic (not of the emo-goth kind!), gloomy, atmospheric and somewhat so(m)ber Black-effort, with hints of Funeral Doom and Dark Ambient. The atmosphere comes close to the so-called Nordic sound and the Suicidal-approach, including the comparable ‘underground’-sound and with a comparable equilibrium in between faster and slower parts. It does not sound original at all (see list of comparable bands below), but the compositions are of a high quality, going for both song writing as well as performance. Besides, the production fits perfect: raw and rough, slightly unpolished and primitive, yet not inferior or hollow at all.

Recommended if you like: Shining, Mortifera, Throne Of Katarsis, Grey, Draugar, Moon or Thrall.
