Slussenanalys

Yea-hah...Slussenanalys is back with a new...single?...I'd hoped the Finnish band might have enough material by now to record a complete album's worth of music!I mean, the band's debut album, Aquila Helvetos Asfaltos (re-issued on CD earlier this year – see review by yours truly posted 24/07/2013 for additional details) was already released at the end of 2011 so, is it that inconceivable then, that the band might have written enough material by now?

Falcon (ex-Circle)

With their leading 7-inch single Beer And Ribs released well ahead of the album (3 months and a half ahead, actually), anticipation for the Falcon (ex-Circle) full-length debut had certainly been rising at Casa Tony... but I have not found myself disappointed with the result!

Aktor

With little info to be found anywhere else, I'll introduce this new act to you with the text also posted at the label's website (altered, of course, to the usual ConcreteWeb criteria):

Mamiffer & Circle

Just when find my mind completely clouded about how to start this review, I see the opening lines of the label's presentation of this collaboration project, and that misty cloud dissipates with the idea to simply reproduce that text...so here it comes!

Räjäyttäjät

Oh my God...you must be kiddin' me...what a crazy bandname, and what a tongue-trap album title. I mean, unless you're of Finnish descent, like the band, is there really a way to pronounce that title without rollin' over your tongue twice? But good golly...does this band ever make crackin' good Hard Rock 'n' Roll music!!!

Death Trip

If you can imagine a space punk band, all of whose members were suffering from schizophrenia, then that is something like what Death Trip sound like on the demented Pain Is Pain, which collects 3 singles from the period 1988-1994 and some demo material.

Arkhamin Kirjasto

Arkhamin Kirjasto latest 3-track 7” EP is worth checking out, but not really a life and death purchase. Not now, but who knows what the future hold? Unholy Priest of Holy Trinity of Death (full title)is an assorted musical melding pot with ample amounts of old school death metal, groove rock and chugging metal all rolled into one. Nothing presented here is bad by any means, it just lacks the singular identity to stand on his own.

Toiling Midgets

The Toiling Midgets? If memory serves well, I have a 1992 album entitled Son (issued through Matador) by that band. I'm not certain (I should check my data banks on that, I guess – and then perhaps dish out the album and listen to it again – if it is not one of a shit-list of albums I still have to listen to, to begin with – because I really like what I hear on this here live album!), but the cover artwork I saw while researching info on the band sure looks familiar!

Hopeajärvi

There's hardly any info on this Finnish band (which apparently has homebases in 4 different districts of the township of Helsinki, namely Käpylä, Ogeli, Pakilla and Paloheinä – the latter a favourite hotspot for nature lovers), except what's on their facebook (in Finnish), so I'll just copy what info the label gave us along with the download copy of the album, okay?

Falcon (ex-Circle)

Already mentioned in my recent review of Circle's Six Day Run album (posted on 14/07 of last...and then again, for some odd reason, one 20/07 – PS: made a mistype about the original release date of the band's debut album Meronia...that's of course 1994 and not 1004!), this is a single on which the members of the Finnish band Circle bring two songs with a more direct Classic Hard Rock feel (as opposed to the more Psychedelic geared stuff of their main band).
