Ars Moriendi

Ars Moriendi are a solo-project by Bastien ‘Arsonist’ Mailhot, whom you might know from, for example, Rein, Solipsis or Notre Amertume (so this has nothing to do with the same-named act from Lithuania nor the one from Austria; and maybe, who knows, there are others with the very same moniker?...).

Thergüu

I had not heard of this band before, but Goat 10.10.10 seems to be this Swiss act’s debut (no idea how you need to pronounce the band’s moniker anyway). But in any case Thergüu do impress me a lot with this first recording, which has a total running time of half an hour (the three tracks, From, Within, and Above, last for respectively 8:29, 9:51 and 11:06 minutes). And despite these English song titles, the lyrics are in French, for your (mostly important) information…

Avitas

On July 20th 2014 Concreteweb updated the new Avitas-album Northern Ghosts. But since sole member Patrick Myrtroen, who also runs the Bud Metal Records-label, did send us the 2009-album Saga Of The Nationalist too, I will be that sweet to have this material reviewed too. You’re welcome…

Abigorum

Abigorum are the project by Satanath’s owner Aleksey Korolyov. There was an untitled demo-MCD in 2012, totally instrumental, which was the first release on Aleksey’s label as well, and now the guy had the time to record a new track, My Haemophilia, and have it released on his very own label in order to please or irritate (delete as appropriate) our presence. In my case: please or irritate. It deals with one song only, which lasts for three minutes, but it surely is a monument of a hymn!

Terdor

Terdor are a Dutch act, consisting of vocalist (and poet / lyricist) Lafawijn, and multi-instrumentalist, mixer, master, producer and music writer Elshschappij Tovenaere. Seen the title of this album, you might expect a first part as well (which actually was released in 2011), but Terdor debuted (at least when talking about full length studio material) in 2008 with Axis Panzerzug Anno November 1942 (and before there were a split with Gheestenland and an EP).

Shaddai

Asgard Hass Productions from Switzerland are one of those labels that do understand the essential importance of the musical underground. This fact gets translated by the release of some highly interesting recordings. There is no need to search for the most original, renewing approach, but rather they focus on the purity and excellence of our beloved sonic expressions. Respect!

A great example of this label’s supremacy is this newest release, the From Mute Remains-EP, the first official material after the 2011-demo Serpens Antiquu

HellSpirit

The very young Tampere, Finland-based label Saturnal Records suddenly appear out of the blue with some highly interesting releases; On Death’s Wings by Blood Red Fog and HellSpirit with Dawn Under Curse will be the first releases, available as from May 26th on, and at the end of July one can expect Anticipation For Blood Leveled In Darkness by super-group Voodoo Gods.

Sieghetnar

There are two Sieghetnar-re-issues that recently came my way, i.e. the partly re-recorded 2008-demo Endlösung (this version came via Kunsthauch), of which the review was posted very recently on this site (see update July 20th 2014), and this review will deal with the re-release of this project’s third full length, Bewußtseinserweiterung (after Verfallen & Verendet and Todessehnsucht).

Feskarn

On July 20th 2014, Concreteweb posted the review of the new Feskarn-album, Östra Aros. Since Pesttanz Klangschmiede did send us the debut album Raise Your Swords as well, I will give a (small) review too on this material.

Tjolgtjar

Within the Black Metal scene, there have always been lots of sick-minded entities. I am not referring to ‘fans’ of the genre (though it can help to be slightly ‘different’ in order to ‘understand’ and ‘undergo’ these lovely tunes of hate and / or despair), but I am talking about many musicians. One of them is, without any doubt, the sole member of Tjolgtjar, JR Preston.
