Night In Terrors is a new label from Tampere, Finland, and the first (and until now also the sole) release is the split-album The Perverse Worship Of Satanic Sins. Two projects contribute, i.e. Finland’s Anal Blasphemy, a project by Molestor Kadotus (think about blackiful acts like: Calvarium, Anal Foetus, Black Priest Of Satan, Itsemurha, Trotzreich and many more; he’s the owner of the strong Hammer Of Hate-label as well, by the way), and Forbidden Eye, a two-piece collaboration with Swiss vocalist Winter (also in Antichristian Kommando) and American multi-instrumentalist NeilNocturnus Dominus’ Sequichie (formerly of Thornspawn, and currently in e.g. Rituals Of A Blasphemer, Unhuman Disease, Black Devotion, Goat Terrorism, and co-warrior of Winter in Antichristian Kommando; without exception these are all superior bands / projects from the most grim regions of the Underworld!). The latter, by the way, is also the guy behind Unholy Vision Records, which Neil created to release some of his own material.

So, The Perverse Worship Of Satanic Sins then… To start with: the cover picture. A voluptuous nun fingering herself, with ‘Satan’ written in blood on her breasts; isn’t that almost a perfected visualisation of a record with such an appropriate title? Sweet and delightful, it does draw attention of the devotees amongst us!

The split opens with three tracks of Anal Blasphemy, and probably it will be the last material ever released under this moniker. Reason: Mr. Kadotus changed Anal Blasphemy’s name very recently in Blasphemous Devotion. When it comes to the compositions on this split, well, it surely goes on in the vein of the glorious past. First of all the lyrics and song titles are as gore, perverse and sick as ever before. Licking The Cunt Of Chaos, Sperm Of Satan, Antichrist Semen, and Birth-Death-Rebirth are the sweet titles of the aural pieces of Sick Art, still combining blasphemy and misanthropy at the one hand with porn and Sick Sex Splendour at the other. The thrashing Black Metal hymns start with the intelligent quote that the one true God houses between a woman’s legs. Will you pray with me? Then the party really starts when the filthy doominess conquers one’s ear drums. Rhythmic and pounding, this material glorifies the Underground scene by means of total bleakness. The opening song is rather slow, the second one somewhat faster, yet still with a specific Scandinavian undertone. And that second one, Sperm Of Satan, Antichrist Semen, might be the most ‘atmospheric’ one ever created by Anal Blasphemy. Finally the third song, which clocks almost ten minutes. This track is rather atmospheric and melodic (even the leads are decently melodified) and indeed, there are hints of ‘emotionality’; can you imagine?...

Another constant, however and unfortunately, is the bad production. I do appreciate ‘underground’ in many aspects, as you might know. This goes as well for a raw, unpolished sound. But in Anal Blasphemy’s case, the mixture, and therefore the equilibrium in between the different instruments (voices included), is badly balanced. Though I did hear worse, much worse stuff in the past…

The duo of Forbidden Eye also come with their latest material, I guess, since the project was put on hold for at least a while in order to concentrate on their other collaboration, Antichristian Kommando (and in Neil’s case, also to put more time into his other projects and his label). After a short, eerie intro, Forbidden Eye perform grandiose Nordic Underground Black Metal in the vein of Gorgoroth, Sargeist, Carpathian Forest, Satanic Warmaster, Kampfar, Mayhem, Diabolicum and the likes. The material gets injected with some heathen and epic, slightly Viking-oriented elements and purest sulphuric vocals, an energetic tempo (with several tempo-changes), and a splendid production: impure, rough, anti-clinical and necrotic. Despite not that much variation, and despite a total lack of originality, the average quality is just huge, and the bands I compared Forbidden Eye with in a former phrase aren’t just coincidentally chosen. Forbidden Eye equal the enormous quality of them easily.
