The Centipede Abyss is a strongly upcoming community for Extreme (Metal) Music acts with an outsider-thinking attitude. Several musicians share different collaborative acts, showing the inherent and strong connectedness in between these same-minded (or is it: lunatic-minded) human beings.

This goes, for example, for Ar’lyxkq’wr, a Trans-Atlantic combo that consists of music(k)ians that are involved with several other interesting projects on this label: Vhuwxg•⁹'kqx - I (That Which Feeds in the Portal) (Apothecary; not [yet] involved with the label, but I feel it in my spine that this might not last that long anymore) on throat-puking and keyboard-rape, skin-molester and cymbal-destroyer Jsïjiådsj - II (That Which Creates the Portal) (Zvylpwkua, Cave, Vertebrae Fetish Totem, Ukakuja, Mouth Of Cedar), and string-reaper Æýn'xjr'xz - III (That Which Preserves the Portal) (Mouth Of Cedar, Zvylpwkua, Act Of Entropy, Ukakuja). The trio recently finished a new three-track EP with the eloquent title Vwn’yv’rl. And I can assure you: those trusted with the former material of Ar’lyxkq’wr, or any of the other aforementioned projects, will not be disappointed, for Vwn’yv’rl mercilessly continues the brain-torturing noise we all masochistically do adore. All together: hurray!

The EP comes with the characteristic poisonous-green cover artwork of horrific and extra-terrestrial origin, once again created by Mister Inentropy (the portal-preserver), and totally lacking any AI-generated support. It opens (and hey, there is not an error if you doubt these song-titles!) with cVII.XXII. ayW³}_—×:¤  (08:22), starting off quite goody-goody, hehe, with some sort of melodious (seriously) guitar-tune. Yet it just takes a handful of seconds before all known sonic dimensions get wiped out mercilessly. Dissonant strings, troubled (or is it: troubling?) percussions, and frenzy screams get aggregated into a maelstrom of ear-drum-crushing sonority, with blasting drum-patterns, jazzy interludes, grinding structures and ingeniously structured auditory destruction. A fine thing is the organic interplay of all instruments (voices included), as well as the varied execution; the latter being based on unstoppable eruptions, meticulously injected by some shorter yet fine-tuned decelerations. It has a certain hint of blackened fury too, especially throat-wise, yet of the most rabid kind. §ⁿANSZFP (02:27) is quite ‘short’, but it makes sense: a linear flash of speed through a universe of chaos. The mathematically-precise implementation gives away a self-confidence without turning into arrogance. …a surreal excerpt of unworldly craftsmanship… The last epic, ≠//±ułr⁸|¤r⁰ ((), combines multi-layered strings and intolerant drum patterns (and anti-patterns), as if it might be the ultimate soundtrack for some cosmic pyroclasm. Here too, evil-sounding chants (yeah, whatever) and the addition of different breaks, loops and tempo-changes (with a few hauntingful [yes, this word does exist as from now on!] doomed excerpts), result in some undefinable yet magisterial adventure, which one cannot paraphrase in human language. Remarkable are the last moments (as from about 9:25), for the aural terror suddenly, yet smoothly, seems to transform elegantly into a Lovecraftian excerpt of terrifying Horror, with those shrieking synth-lines and that acid-spitting gorge.

Vwn’yv’rl clocks little less than twenty-two minutes, but it is an unstoppable, and unescapable, avalanche of well-structured noise-sculpting. They did it again. It needs persuasion, bravery, and tenacity to ‘endure’ this EP, yet in a masochistic way, one cannot deny the clever beauty behind the abhorrent mask…
