Jose Murcia is the guy who runs Craneal Fracture Records, a label specialized in Noise, Power-Electronics and more of that sonic terrorism. Probably, in a near future, there might be some reviews for releases on that Spanish label. Jose also acts as musician in some Extreme Metal bands, such as Enza Negra, Evocación and Inrresurrection (mind the double-r twice!); for the last one there will be a review coming up (the re-release of Inrresurrection’s sole demonstrational release Skull On The Cross), and this specific one deals with the nameless EP by Enza Negra.
With the EP Enza Negra, the quartet (Sacrilegio and Cerebro Acido, both in defunct Inrresurrection too, Podredumbre and Sexual Morbus) brings quite intense and merciless Blast / Black / Thrash Metal of a mostly stripped-down and primal kind. This is nastiness à la the First Wave, fiercely rooted within the tradition of the glorious Eighties. Both pieces, Enza Negra and Abraxas, breathe sulphur and acid, and it totally rips and rapes. Despite a total lack of originality, the qualitative result is fantastic. I think the vocals are quite unique and convincing, the riffs and rhythms pound and roll the unstoppable way, the solos pierce and punish, and the general song structures contain everything that remains memorable.
While the title song Enza Negra focuses on thrashing speed and Teutonic power especially, Abraxas delves rather into depths of the initial Death / Thrash / Black current. Though both compositions are a cohesive expression of Old Style supremacy, and therefor recommended!
FYI: Spanish Bomber Recs did release this EP on tape (limited to 150 copies) with inclusion of an intro, a cover song (by Difunter, which share a member with Enza Negra) and a new track. Maybe something we’ll experience in a near future???
