As you might know, it wasn’t only Germany, Sweden and the U.S. that were ‘big’ during the earliest era of the Death Metal scene. Without any doubt, the Netherlands were of undeniable importance back then, and without the Dutch scene, the current Death Metal scene wouldn’t have developed the way it finally did. Everybody knows the likes of Pestilence, Sinister, Thanatos, Gorefest, Asphyx, God Dethroned, etc., and the real fan (or is it the one who’s getting old right now?) will remember Polluted Inheritance as well, I can imagine. The band recorded three albums during the nineties, amongst which Ecocide. Ecocide was originally released via West Virginia Records, owned by Holy Moses front woman Sabina Classen, and it is sold out / out of print ever since.

Another known person with the name Classen, Mister Andy (both of them were a couple back then, but divorced in mean time), was the producer of this material, by the way. Nowadays this kind of material might sound somewhat too old-fashioned because of the primal structures and the lack of modern experimentism, but the fundamental basics created the massive roots of the current scene. That’s a first reason why to appreciate this album, for it is one of the most convincing ones from that period for sure. And the sold-out reason, of course, is another interesting fact.
