The story of this Italian band from Acqui Terme (a small town situated some 70 km NW from Genova, in the North of the country, which has a history going back to the year 173 BC!) starts in the year 2007, when 4 school friends and hang-out buddies (singer Enrico Boschiazzo aka Bosko Dirty Hack, guitarist Andrea Servetti aka Serve The Weedz, bassist Andrea Panaro aka Pana Doctor Gonzo, and drummer Filippo Galli aka machinegun Kocks) start a band under the name Overdose. They played a series of gigs playing covers at school parties, which eventually didn't go down too well...and had their last gig at the end-of-school party in 2008.

In 2009 the foursome re-kindles its musical interests, and gets into writing its first own song. They change their bandname to Saturday Overdose (because they feel it represents the band's '80s-inspired “party-loving” sound better), and start improving their skills (both as musicians ans songwriters) as the first gigs come along. The guys then record a demo, and put together a first tour to promote the material, a tour on which they also frequent some of the somewhat bigger venues. At the beginning of 2013, the boys 5 of their most representative songs in a more professional way at Federico Pennazzato's Authoma Studios (which had been host in the past for recordings of the likes of Hell In The Club and Secret Sphere, among others). March 2013 sees the joining of rhythm guitarist Micio Marenda aka Mattia Harris Clarke to the old, as the band wants to be able to re-create the EP's sound on stage, and a little later the search for a label ends when a deal is signed with Street Symphonies.

As mentioned earlier (or at least hinted at), the band's musical influences are based in the '80s Party Rock (meaning there's also balladesque influences – and “Anthem For A Dream” even finds the track enhanced with piano and strings – wonderfully expressive lead guitars in the second part of that song, by the way!), but the advantages of modern recording techniques sure give the songs a flavour which is everything but out-dated. I'll not waste any more words here, as all five songs are posted in the “Songs!” section of the band's facebook page (www.) facebook.com/saturdayoverdose (none of the songs are posted at the label's music player – dudes...ever heard of timely updates!?), so surf on over there and enjoy the offering, if you what the above described is to your liking. Oh...forgot to mention that the singer hardly has that typical accent one expects from the gross of Italian bands...meaning the enjoyment factor is that tad bit higher, right!? And, just for completeness' sake, the guys also have a MySpace page (find link/ address at facebook page!).
