Leah is not a band, but the front name of the fronting woman Leah McHenry, who hails from British Columbia – Canada. So far she has released her debut album in 2012, called ‘Of Earth And Angels’, and an EP in 2013 ‘Otherworld’, which was re-issued in 2014.
What this lady brings us is symphonic metal, but with a high dosage of Celtish/folk influences. On this album though, she has not limited herself to these influences, but also has mixed in some oriental sounds.
What started out as a coverband called Powerage in 1998, quickly changed it’s name to Axenstar, and in the mean time started writing it’s own material. Since then these Swedes have been working hard, resulting in their first album in 2002, followed in 2003 by the ‘Far From Heaven’ album. Only having released their debut album ‘Mask Of Lies’ in 2013, Mind Maze from Pennsylvania are already there with a next album ‘Back From The Edge’.
Silent Voices is a Finnish band that I’d never heard of before. Yet so far they have already released 3 albums since 2002, but since their 2006 album ‘Building Up the Apathy’ it had become quite silent, as if they went in wintersleep. On top of that they lost their vocalist Michael Henneken (Sentiment, Adamantia).

Persuaders’ fourth album is coming out in January 2014 and it’s a great new year’s present for the Powermetal fans.
This Brazilian band has been around for some time, yet it is only now they have released their debut album. Led by Daisa Munhoz, a rather good looking lady, with a fantastic voice, they bring us high quality progressive power metal.
This is the debut album of Sweden rockers Saffire who, despite being around the block since 2005, have as yet only released a few demos. What they bring us seems to be a mix of 70ies and 80ies hard rock, mixed with some heavy metal from that same era, and finally some progressive elements have been mixed in the blend.
Pastore is a Brazilian band, named after it’s leader, vocalist Mario Pastore. They released their first album ‘The Price For The Human Sins’ in 2011, so this is their second effort.
If you’re a fan of old school heavy metal à la Judas Pries or Iron Maiden, then this album should do the trick. Mr. Pastore is a very gifted vocalist, to tell you the truth on some songs he even reminds me of Bruce Dickinson while in other songs he sounds more like Rob Halford.
