Cult Of Erinyes

When I heard the debut full length of Brussels-based act Cult Of Erinyes, called A Place To Call My Unknown (released in spring 2011 via Les Acteurs de l’Ombre Productions, a French label that never disappoints; for the review on that first studio full album, check the update on June 2nd 2011 in the Archive-tab on this superior webzine…), I was completely blown away (still there are some fleshy leftovers and bloody spots on the wall behind me). That album must have been one of the strongest, most surprising albums from 2011!

Spüolus

I have to admit: I did not know Spüolus, at least not before Kunsthauch were so kind to send me (and in extension, ‘us’, for I am part of the Concreteweb-crew, of course…) the first, and sole full length album Behind The Event Horizon. The only other thing this project did, if I am not wrong, was a split (with Mare Frigoris) in 2013, which has been re-issued as well via Kunsthauch.

Astral Silence

I had not heard of Swiss solo-project Astral Silence, run by a guy mysteriously called Quaoar, before, but with this project there was a first contribution on a three-way split in 2009. Astral Journey, which this review deals with, is the first Astral Silence-album, and in 2013 the very same label, Kunsthauch, did release the sophomore full album, Open Cold Dark Matter. But first things first, and that’s Astral Journey.

Sieghetnar

There are two Sieghetnar-re-issues that recently came my way, i.e. one being the third full length by this project, Bewußtseinserweiterung, which I will review very soon (watch out!), and one for the first demo out of three done in 2008, called Endlösung. This review will deal with that one.

Nahash

Nahash are a band from Lithuania, formed more than twenty years ago out of the ashes of Nemesis. They debuted on the first edition of the split series Dark Fire Dancing, created to promote the Lithuanian scene, and in 1996 they had this album out via Ledo Takas Records (owned by a former member of the band, Tadas Kazlauskas), back then on tape.

Neige & Noirceur

Very recently I did review the newest album by Quebec-based act Neige & Noirceur, Gouffre Onirique Et Abîmes Cosmiques, posted on June 1st on Concreteweb. But this one-man project has a pretty impressive, and highly interesting discography as from 2005 on. This review deals with a re-release of Neige & Noirceur’s second demo, 2007’s L’Abîme Des Jours, L’Écume Des Nuits, originally released via defunct Ohio-based Dungeons Deep Records.

All The Cold

All The Cold are a Russian project with former and current members of e.g. Kirai and Dead. Nowadays they do not play Black Metal anymore, but that was quite different in the past. This compilation is the best example of that glorious past.

Pest

Lower-Saxony-based Pest were formed during the second half on the nineties. After a first demo, they recorded four full lengths and an EP, which undersigned does like with passion, pleasure and pain. Unfortunately the band split-up after the decease of Artur ‘Mrok’ Bialkowski, but Pest had one more recording finished. The other members of the band decided to release that album posthumously, appropriately entitled Buried (released earlier this year via Primal Vomit Records).

Nebula Orionis

Nebula Orionis are a very young project from Russia. There was a first EP in early 2013, called Aena, followed by a second one at the very end of 2013 (Glacie), and a full length in early 2014 (Summer). All of them have been self-released, but Kunsthauch will give a proper distribution right now, at least on the second record, Glacie. Let’s hope the rest will follow soon.
